Ventricular Fibrillation

Ventricular fibrillation is a fatal arrhythmia characterized by rapid, disorderly contraction of the lower chambers of the heart, i.e. ventricles. If immediate defibrillation (shock) is not administered when this occurs, blood pressure cannot be maintained and death will occur. A common symptom of ventricular fibrillation is usually Syncope.

Treatment for VFib

Treatment for ventricular fibrillation requires IMMEDIATE cardiac defibrillation and subsequent transport to the nearest Emergency Room. Survivors will need implantation of cardiac defibrillator to monitor heart rhythm and deliver an electrical shock to restart the heart when necessary.
